I’ve seen people make versions of this over the years, and protein mug cakes are really popular on TikTok. Mine never come out quite right though…super dry no matter how much liquid I use OR I use too much and it never takes form like a real cake. That is, until I tried a new recipe without any flour. I know what you’re thinking. How can a mug cake be good without flour? Honestly, I don’t even know but it just works. After tweaking the recipe a couple times, I’ve finally come up with the perfect mug cake that is almost too healthy to be true.
Best Shakeology Mug Cake (1 serving)
Recipe by Lindsay KalsowIngredients
1 scoop chocolate Shakeology
2 tablespoons of milk (any kind)
1/2 tablespoon of pure maple syrup, agave syrup, or coconut sugar
2 egg whites
1/4 teaspoon of baking powder (*not baking soda)
Handful of chocolate chips
Tablespoon of peanut butter – optional
Directions
- Mix the milk, egg, and sweetener together in a mug or small microwave-safe bowl
- Add the Shakeology and baking powder to the mixture and stir until everything is combined
- Add chocolate chips on top or you can stir them in
- Microwave for 1-2 minutes. My microwave isn’t the best so I normally have to do 1.5-2 minutes but if you have a good microwave, you might only need 1 minute. Either way, it shouldn’t be loose. It should be like a soft cake.
- Add peanut butter on top
- Let it cool and enjoy!
