Low Sugar Holiday Sangria

It’s hard to find fun holiday drink recipes that aren’t packed with sugar. This holiday sangria only has 1g of sugar per serving (a little more if you eat the fruit). Merry Christmas!

Ingredients

  • 1 bottle cabernet sauvignon or your favorite red wine

  • 2 pods star anise

  • 1 stick cinnamon

  • 1 orange, sliced – grapefruit or apple would be another option

  • 1 sprig fresh rosemary

  • Ice

  • 2½ cups pomegranate seeds

  • 1 bottle prosecco

  • Orange slices and rosemary for garnish

Directions

  • Add wine, star anise, cinnamon, orange slices, and rosemary to a medium saucepot over medium-high heat.
  • Bring to a boil then immediately remove from heat.
  • Allow to come to room temperature, then chill in the fridge for 2 hours.
  • When wine is cold, strain out aromatics.
  • To build sangria, fill a wine glass half-full with ice, add 2 orange slices, ¼ cup pomegranate seeds, 2½ ounces of wine, and 2½ ounces of prosecco. Garnish with rosemary sprig and serve!
