The difference between a meal shake & a snack shake

I love smoothies. Before I learned how to cook, my family made fun of me because I used a blender for everything.😂

I drink a superfood veggie shake pretty much everyday. Sometimes I make it as a meal replacement or just as a snack between meals. There’s a big difference.

Putting a 160 calorie powder in water IS NOT A MEAL. That’s a snack. If a diet tells you to drink multiple shakes per day for 7+ days, don’t do it. You’ll be miserable. I know cuz I used to do crap like that.🤦🏻‍♀️

Meal replacement shakes need substance! If I’m making a meal shake, here’s what I’d add:
• 1 cup milk of some sort
• 1 cup frozen fruit
• 1 cup fresh or frozen veggie
• 1 scoop superfood shake powder (cuz I like extra nutrients but you can use regular protein too)
• Extra fiber source like chia seeds, flax, etc.

Not only will your shake test better, but it has the macros & calories of a meal.

Choosing a shake powder can be overwhelming because there are SO many on the market. The ingredients you want to avoid are artificial sweeteners (aspartame, sucralose, saccharin, etc.), artificial food coloring, inflammatory oils (like canola, for example), and if you’re a woman, you might want to avoid soy protein. Soy protein is more heavily processed than other protein sources and can cause estrogen imbalance in women, which nobody wants!

If you have questions about a powder, I’m happy to chat! I personally use this one.
